For those of you who have been to my office, you’ve probably noticed the bright red vintage scooter on display.
Many have asked, “what’s with the scooter?” It’s actually a piece of Allstate history. Back in the 1950s and 60s, when Allstate was owned by the Sears, Roebuck & Company, you could buy Allstate cars, motorcycles, scooters and more at Sears and through the Sears catalog.
The Allstate car was offered in 1952 and 1953 and was a rebadged Henry J American. The Allstate motorcycles and scooters had much longer production runs. The two wheeled Allstate’s were rebadged from manufacturers including Puch, Vespa and Cushman.
In 2017, I had the opportunity to purchase an all original 1965 Allstate Vespa scooter from its original owner in Clarksburg, West Virginia. The scooter has 627 miles on the odometer and is in completely original and unrestored condition. It runs like a champ and the paint still shines like new. It’s a true time capsule.
Also, we have a large collection of vintage automobilia. Everything from motor oil cans, lubricants, motor heaters and more.
As you might be able to tell, I enjoy classic cars. Our office has a variety of prints on the walls of iconic cars including a Corvette, Mustang, Coupe de Ville, GT40, Cobra and many others. I also offer classic/collector car insurance through Hagerty Collector Car Insurance. Please reach out to me if you’d like to have a conversation about your classic/collector car and please stop by our office and check out our collection.
