Our world changed forever at 8:46am on September 11, 2001 – the moment the first airplane struck the World Trade Center. Less than hour and twenty minutes later, at 10:03am, the fourth, and final plane crashed into a rural field in Pennsylvania.

Twenty years later, I still vividly remember exactly where I was that morning, as I’m sure you do too. I was a freshman at Siena College in Loudonville, NY – less than a week into my new college life when the world changed forever. I remember sitting in my dorm room on the second floor of Plassmann Hall, with a bunch of guys I had just recently met for the first time, crowded around my little 13″ TV and watching the unthinkable unfold on live television. We were silent – glued to the television in disbelief. Words cannot explain the emotions we all felt.

Never Forget

We will never forget the fear and emotion we felt twenty years ago. We will never forget that we lost 2,977 lives on that day and many more in the years following. We will never forget that thousands of families lost fathers, mothers, grandparents, and children. We will never forget the bravery of the first responders who put themselves in harms way. We will never forget that freedom isn’t free. #NeverForget

God Bless America
